This class will focus on creating one-of-a-kind jewelry. Participants will explore a variety of techniques associated with ceramic and metal jewelry. Students can expect to combine porcelain, steel and sterling silver to create earrings, necklaces and brooches. Daily demonstrations will alternate between ceramic engineering and metal fabrication. Ceramic demonstrations will center around bead making, engineering ceramic components with fired-in metal mechanisms, adding color/texture/surface to porcelain. Metal demonstrations will focus on the use of steel, using both soldering and cold connections to turn the porcelain elements into finished jewelry.
